  • IOSH Managing Safely Course

    This four day Managing Safety Course is Accredited by IOSH, The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health is designed for Managers to gain the knowledge and understanding they require to allow them to carry out their Health and Safety duties as Managers in a manner that is acceptable by law and also practical for the employees. The course will cover all aspects of Health and Safety in the 7 modules. Generally carried out in the client’s workplace or at the ACT Safety Training Offices in Glasgow for groups of up to 12 students. It is covered in 4 days in a single block, or 1 day a week to suit the client’s requirements.

  • IOSH Managing Safely Refresher Course

    This one day Managing Safely Refresher Course is accredited by IOSH, The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and recommended to be carried out within three years of completing the full four day course. The five modules will confirm the knowledge that each student gained in the previous course and allow them to learn the changes that have taken place as well as the new legislation to have been implemented over the previous three years. Generally carried out in the client’s workplace or at the ACT Safety Training Offices in Glasgow for groups of up to 12 students. It is covered in one day.

    • Anyone in a management or supervisory role, who has completed the full Managing Safely course.

    This half day course is designed for all levels of Managers who are responsible for carrying out and accident or incident investigation and the reporting mechanism that must be dealt with through the Health and Safety Law. .   • Manual Handling Course

    This half day course is designed for all levels of Employee and Managers. The course content will give guidance from the sections of the Health and Safety Law that is relevant to Manual Handling. We will show the types of injury that can occur from poor manual handling and the safer way of lifting and carrying that could reduce the risk of a manual handling injury.

    This is a half-day course and normally delivered at the client’s workplace but can be delivered in our offices in Glasgow.

    Contents of the course includes:

    • Legal requirements, policies & procedures from the Health and Safety at Work Act, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and the Manual Handling Operations Regulations
    • Hazard I.D. & Risk Assessment using the “TASK” model. Task – Individual – Load – Environment
    • Types of Injuries that can occur from manual handling and the areas of the body that are most likely to be affected
    • How to avoid injuries. Precautions to take to reduce injuries from occurring through training and managing the risks
