Fire Safety Training

Our Fire Safety training courses are delivered by Fire Safety Professionals with practical experience providing insight into fire behaviour and fire safety measures, action in the event of fire and improving fire safety culture to ensure you meet legal obligations as will be identified in your Fire Risk Assessment.

  • IOSH Fire Safety for Managers Course

    This one day course aims to provide a higher level of training for Managers and Supervisors who are responsible for the Fire Safety of their respective properties. The course will include all aspects of the roles and responsibilities of the Managers to assist them with the knowledge they require to carry out the daily, weekly, monthly and annual fire safety checks and will also include the Fire Risk Assessment documentation. Generally carried out in the client’s workplace or at the ACT Safety Training Offices in Glasgow for groups of up to 12 students. It is covered in one day

  • Fire Warden/ Fire Marshal Course

    This half day course aims to provide Fire Safety instruction for managers/supervisors and those with additional responsibilities for implementing and maintaining fire safety management procedures in the workplace, in order to ensure:

    • The safety of your colleagues and customers.
    • Your own safety.
    • Adequate protection for the workplace.
    • As required by the Fire Service, and is identified in your fire risk assessments.

  • Fire Awareness Course

    This shorter course aims to provide Fire Safety instruction for all employees to assist them with their safety and their colleagues safety in the event of a fire situation. The course will demonstrate what to do if they discover a fire and how to evacuate themselves and others from the building:

  • Practical Fire Extinguisher Course

    This short 1 hour course and can be added to Fire Warden/Fire Marshal and Fire Awareness courses to allow the employees to get “Hands-on” experience with the fire extinguishers while using either our digital training simulators or gas fired demonstration units. We are covering the following topics:

    Guidance on each of the following fire extinguishers:

    • Water fire extinguisher
    • Foam fire extinguisher
    • CO2 fire extinguisher
    • Dry powder fire extinguisher
    • Wet chemical fire extinguisher
    • Water mist fire extinguisher
    • Fire blanket

    • Full details of each appliance is given to the group
    • Manual handling safety is discussed
    • The safe use and limitations of each appliance is shown by the trainers
    • Particular hazards that may occur when using the appliances are demonstrated
    • We use the Digital training simulator or gas training rig to simulate different types of incidents. Students are asked to react and extinguish each type of fire with the appropriate appliance
    • A full question and answer session is carried out at the end of the session to ensure each student is fully knowledgable on each of the fire extinguishers and fire blanket

  • Disabled Evacuation Course

    This half day course is designed to give Managers and Employees a full understanding of all types of disabilities and the actions to take to assist those persons with a disability to evacuate from a building in the event of a fire alarm or fire. We will cover the PEEPs form and demonstrate the use of the Evacuation Chair.

    Aims

    • This ½ day course aims to provide information to those responsible for dealing with persons who have a disability in the workplace or those visiting a workplace.

    Objectives

    • Explain the ineffectiveness of some of the conventional means of escape measures for persons who have problems with their mobility, vision, hearing and/or those with learning difficulties or mental health problems

    Presentation

    • Legal reasons in relation to persons with a disability at the workplace
    • Moral reasons for dealing with persons with a disability
    • PEEP’s (Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan)

    Types of disability including:

    • Sensory impairments, such as hearing or sight
    • Impairments that fluctuate or recur
